Obsession with sharks.

Hello my lovely viewers! Today's blog post is about my obsession with sharks.

How the obsession began.
I have had an obsession with sharks for two years now. I first got into them, the first time I watched Jaws in my English class. We were writing an essay about how Stephen Spielberg creates suspense in Jaws. After doing that essay I made my Mum buy all the Jaws films and spent the afternoon/night watching them. After that I've been obsessed with Jaws, its my favourite film now.

Why am I obsessed?
I think that sharks are beautiful creatures. They are so fascinating and amusing to watch. Yes sharks are big and scary with huge mouths full of raiser sharp teeth but they are actually amazing. People are scared of them because they aren't the cutest animals ever and because of the Jaws films. Jaws has made people scared of them and stopped them from going in the sea. But now people are so scared of them they decide to kill them, which is not fair at all! People do get killed by sharks often every year but they shouldn't be swimming in the water if they know there's going to be sharks.

Facts about sharks.
  • Humans kill 73 million sharks annually.
  • Sharks do not have a single bone in their bodies. They have a skeleton that is made out of cartilage, the same stuff our ears are made of.
  • Great whites can race through the ocean at 30km per hour!
  • Most fish are covered in smooth flat scales, but sharks are covered with scales that are sharp called denticles.
  • Sharks are rarely dangerous to humans. But humans are dangerous to sharks. Fishermen kill about 30 million to 100 million sharks every year. About 75 shark species are becoming extinct.
